Service Overview

HR & Payroll

Managing employees in HK requires compliance with the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57) and MPF Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485). Every employer must enrol employees in MPF, pay wages on time, calculate leave entitlements correctly, and file Employer Returns. BNH manages the full employer-side HR requirements.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MPF mandatory?
Yes — MPF is mandatory for most employees aged 18–64. Both employer and employee must contribute 5% of relevant income to an approved MPF trustee.
What leave entitlements apply?
Annual leave starts at 7 days after 12 months, increasing to max 14 days. Statutory holidays (12), sick leave, maternity (14 weeks), and paternity (5 days) are also statutory entitlements.
When does severance pay apply?
Employees with 24+ months continuous service dismissed by redundancy are entitled to severance pay: 2/3 of last monthly wages per year of service.
What are the risks of misclassifying employees as contractors?
If the IRD or Labour Tribunal determines a contractor is actually an employee, the employer faces full back-liability — MPF contributions, leave pay, and retrospective Employer Return filing.
