FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Investment Visa?
The Investment Visa allows non-HK permanent residents to enter and remain in HK to establish or join a business. The applicant must demonstrate the business benefits HK's economy, sufficient capital is invested, and the role cannot be filled locally.
What is an IANG Visa?
The IANG scheme allows non-local graduates of HK institutions, and certain overseas university graduates, to stay or come to HK for up to 24 months without a specific job offer to seek employment or start a business.
How long do visa applications take?
Investment Visa: typically 4–6 weeks. Employment Visa: typically 4–6 weeks. Processing times vary; the Immigration Department does not commit to specific timelines.
Which businesses need a licence beyond Business Registration?
Most only need a Business Registration Certificate. Regulated industries require specific licences — food businesses, money service operators, travel agents, schools, and certain import/export activities.
